Holophonic Sounds

What's even crazier is that this technology is 30 years old!

Picture
Holophonics was created by Hugo Zuccarelli in 1980.

WHAT?! Did you hear that? ...1980 YO!

That was well before M.C. Hammer's prime, back in RUN DMC days when people be sportin their ADIDAS.
Yes, this is technology that we've had for 30 years and yet failed to take advantage of it's awesomeness. OKAY OKAY, so supposedly it was used in Aladdin, and Pink Floyd's The Final Cut. That's cool and all... but really?

                                                        It's 2011, Yo.

Who got the 411 on it dawg?  fa-shizzle.

Well supposedly it is has always been here and we've never noticed. At least that's what this long scientific paper tries to prove.

"The results of perceptual tests on sound-caring listeners show that nowadays they do not seem sensitive to the benefits of binaural technologies: even if binaural techniques were recognized to provide increased spaciousness and out-of-head localization, this has not been a sufficient reason for preferring binaural technologies to stereo ones."

Out-of-head localization?! What playa? That's so pimp.

                       You down? I'm down.

Hip hop ho0rray compadre let's celebrate!

But honestly, do we need an entire scientific paper to prove that we haven't  realized something is awesome?

Maybe we just need some more cool examples of this effect, and some thoughts on implications. What can we do with it? I think there just needs to be more interest rallied... Let's start a movement.
